OK they lost. The Islanders are having this amazing streak of bad luck in terms of injuries the last few seasons and as luck will have it, it continued into tonight.
Quick recap, Poulin fell during warm ups. Looked as though his skate may have gotten caught in the ice. Either way he hurt his left leg.
Lets take a look at what we did see go right tonight.
We saw a dominant penalty kill. The PK unit was tearing it up tonight. We saw Grabner once again create opportunities for himself. We saw HUSTLE.
We saw the Tavares & Moulson combo pick up another goal.
We saw Matt Martin pick his game up tremendously. I especially liked him turning on the jets and drawing the penalty on Toronto's Kaberle.
We saw Grabner add to his point total with a rebound goal. Imagine when he improves those hands!!!!
We saw tremendous pressure and a solid forecheck for most of the game.
We saw the Isles rebound from another deficit to make it a game.
We saw IMPROVEMENT! We are watching chemistry form on that second line.
We saw Bailey playing point on the PP.
There were many positives in tonights game. The score may not have reflected it but we saw an amazing effort by this young group of players.
Don't dwell on the outcome. We aren't making the playoffs now anyway. Be very impressed by the development you are witnessing.
I'll google witch doctors in the tri state area and see if we can lift this hex.
