What a 2 days it has been. I didn't blog about last nights game because my goal wasn't to do a blog after each and every game breaking down the periods. I wanna write about what is happening with this team.
I have said a million times we are building a winner. I have been laughed at, made fun of and insulted. I have tried explaining to people the transition that the team will make throughout the season and especially in the second half. There have been only a handful of people who have agreed with me.
I wrote a second half forecast blog TELLING you what to expect this team to do in the second half. Still, I was emailed hate letters by these people who just love to hate the Islanders.
Every aspect of this team has been broken down by commentators, journalists, bloggers, and fans. When they make a transaction the chatter starts. Someone needs to step in. The owner is an idiot. The coach stinks.
When they start playing offense people breakdown their defense. When they pick up the defense people take shots at the offense. They lack toughness. They lack skill.
Moulson is a fluke I have been told. Tavares is over hyped. Grabner is fun to watch however he doesn't have the skill to score goals. AHL all stars, NHL chumps.
To all those people, I hope they are watching. I hope they are watching a TEAM form. A GROUP OF LEADERS emerging for a common cause. A pack of strained reputations with nothing left to lose and EVERYTHING to gain by sticking together because the rest of the world has already shut them out.
Last night we watched a team trail all game to pick up 2 points. Tonight we watch them abuse the team that made them look like fools just one week ago. Every player tonight played with FIRE and FURY. We watched them KICK the SH*T out of the Penguins. Thats old time hockey right there. That is a team UNITED.
Tonight the Islanders are telling the NHL and the rest of the hockey world that they are very much alive and well. Last night they gave us hope. Tonight they give you something to believe in.
This team needs ALL of its fans back. This team DESERVES bodies in those seats. This team has played hard for us, the FANS. This team has EARNED our support.
Thurs Feb. 17 the Islanders play the Boston Bruins. It WILL be a tough game. We should ALL be there!
This blog has almost 1000 hits in just about 2 weeks. This leads me to believe we can form something to get the people there. If everyone shares the message, not even my blog. Just tell people to go to the game, it would help. Write it, tweet it, whatever.
It's a good reason to get out, join some friends and have a good time and support the team that is playing its heart out for you!!!
